Dental implants are the most lifelike way of replacing missing teeth. The procedure involves placing a titanium metal post into the jawbone where the natural tooth root would have been. The implant is designed to fuse with the bone through a process called osseointegration and become a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth, also known as crowns. The process is complex and requires a lot of time, but the end result is a beautiful, permanent and comfortable smile that you will be happy to show off.
The first step is an evaluation of your mouth and dental health to ensure that you have enough healthy bone to hold an implant. If not, we can recommend a bone graft to prepare the area for the procedure. We will also take 3D X-rays and digital jaw scans to see how much bone is available and whether it is in good shape.
After determining that you are a candidate for the procedure, we will create an individual plan that addresses your specific needs and is customized for your mouth. We will also discuss your desired results to help determine the type and number of implants needed to replace your missing teeth.
During the surgery, you will be given ample local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. You may experience some initial discomfort in the surgical site, but this should subside quickly as the anesthetic wears off. Following the procedure, it is important to follow oral hygiene instructions and schedule regular visits with your dentist to make sure that the implant remains healthy and secure in the bone.
Once the implant has healed and integrated into the jawbone, a small connector piece called an abutment is attached to it. This is what connects the crown to the implant and is the only part of the implant that is visible in the gum tissue. The crown is then placed on top of the abutment, covering it completely and making it look like a real tooth.잠실임플란트
The type of implant used will depend on your situation and is determined by Dr Shekher during the initial consultation. Generally speaking, endosteal implants are screws or cylinders that are surgically placed into the jawbone and hold one or more artificial teeth (crowns). Subperiosteal implants are metal frames with posts that sit on the surface of the jawbone. They are often used for patients who have limited bone height and cannot wear conventional dentures.
Most dental insurance plans do not cover the cost of the implant or the prosthetic tooth that is attached to it. However, it is worth checking with your provider to find out what coverage you might have. For those who do not have dental insurance, we offer our own unique financing program that can make the procedure more affordable.0.1치과
